Retired or Past Herd Sires
We believe the sires (bucks)bring as much to the quality of the herd as the milking does. We carefully track the strengths and weaknesses of our does and look to the bucks' dam and paternal and maternal dams, sisters and offspring for what the particular buck could bring to individual does for improvement. We keep between 4 and 6 bucks at any given moment and therefore have the ability to "mix and match" during breeding season. As we are a CAE free herd, we "breed out" by our discretion only. It is best to invest in a buckling, so order early as we will not keep buck kids past springtime.

Jesta Farm Toby
Toby was probably our first buck purchase that really started us understanding how important the Sire choice is to improving your herd. He was a solid, well-proportioned boy that brought well-attached udders and teat placement as well as milk. We wish we kept a son out of him.
